PotatoFest 2012

15 Sep

This morning we harvested our potato crop.  Considering that we planted approximately 500 seed potatoes, I think we netted a little(?) less than breakeven.  What do you think?

This is little surprise to us, since we took very little care (OK practically none) of them during the growing season.  The pile of weeds that was pulled today is evidence of our negligence (this is how not to do it).

Anyway, here is a picture of the “south field” (OK plot) after the harvest.  That is David’s “tiller” (an old seed spreader) off to the right by the bales of straw.  Daddy’s tiller didn’t make it in the picture.

So now we wait to harvest our sweet potatoes:

and to try our Jerusalem artichokes (or sunchokes), which are now over ten feet tall!

Blessings,

Andy

    Hi,
The Lord often supplies for our needs even when we are neglectful. I am so happy to see how God is supplying for your needs in many different areas of your lives. You are a blessing to others, and God is a blessing to you. I think of you and pray for you often.

Becki and I are thinking about trying to grow potatoes on the balcony in a trash can. She saw it online. Hope the other crops do a little better.

Thanks Donald. We had also heard about growing potatoes in a trash can. If you do it, I would be interested in how it goes for you.
